Green Zone

The Green Zone was anywhere Blechtel and Burton-Hell provided overlapping medical security through a joint contract. Life outside the Greenzone was thought to be impossible for humans and difficult for AI due to rampant I/O Disease. Most corporate cities, plants, and stations were covered by some part of the vast but non-contiguous map of the Green Zone.

The Green Zone demarcation was marked by a lighter than air gel surface to surface barrier. Sensor tugs kept the gel barrier constantly suffused with active and passive electrodes. Crossing it is impossible for any living creature, from men to bacterium.

If you needed to break a hole in the Green Zone, it usually would require debilitating an entire System, and thus was costly in terms of lives and material.
