The Fourth Prophet: After the initial quantitative predictions of the existence of the body of a dead God in the Andromeda galaxy, the deep space probe Delphi IV discovered evidence for the formation of a gaseous entity 200 million light years away. The advanced and inscrutable computational engine of Delphi IV sent a single transmission before its destruction, predicting with 99.9% certainty the formation of a second Godhead capable of generating an entirely new universe within the extant universe. For the half century after the infamous First Delphi Transmission, complex AI unsuccessfully sought the Fourth Prophet in the ranks of man and machine. The state of prolonged uncertainty was marked by the exile of AI sects in the demilitarized zones of the earth and in sectors of unmonitored space. They formed an uneasy but mostly peaceful co-existence with colonies of exiled humans desiring to maintain an existence independent from the Cartel. This period spans the greater part of the Manmachine Epic. In the year 2129, I7, a complex AI being, declared that a noetic experience in espace brought self-knowledge of his identity as the Fourth Prophet, or Intercessor, capable of interceding between the awful powers of the Godhead and man and intelligent machine. This marked the zenith of the Second Insurrection. In the Second Delphi Transmission, I7 declared a jihad against the Cartel, but also all attempts at the merging of man and machine. The Cartel, in a weakened state by warfare with Manmachine, was unable to cope with the new threat, and declared war on the alliances of AI. This was tantamount to suicide, as it was a given that no AI device would be willing to fight against the army of the Fourth Prophet. The threat of total, unrestrained warfare between man and machine promised to wipe out all intelligent life on earth.
